Referral Program

Earn recurring income by referring Feedback Rebates

Recommend Virthium Feedback Rebates app to Shopify merchants and earn recurring income every time customers redeem rebates.

How it works

  1. You recommend the app to a Shopify merchant.
  2. They offer Feedback Rebates on their products.
  3. Every time a customer redeems a rebate, Virthium earns a 25% transaction fee.
  4. You get 20% of that fee for an entire year. Automatically.

No tiers. No subscriptions. No selling funnels. No “minimum performance.”

All payouts are tracked in real time in your account balance and sent to you via PayPal.

With your Referral Code, the merchant will also receive half of their transaction fees back (up to $200) as a Feedback Rebate after the first 60 days of use. Win-win.

Why this model works (and why it’s different)

A Shopify merchant simply replaces their typical % OFF discount with a Feedback Rebate. It's the same money, but unlike a discount, not every customer will redeem the rebate:

  • Unredeemed rebates directly increase the merchant’s profit.
  • They cover the app's transaction fees.
  • The merchant ends up getting more reviews without increasing cost.

Most affiliate offers fail because they ask businesses to spend more money.

Here, the model doesn’t require an additional budget or commitment. It simply replaces an already existing discount.

In the unlikely event that the merchant doesn’t offer discounts already, or sets the rebates so large that more than 80% of customers redeem them, they can simply make the rebates smaller. Even a small rebate will generate a lot more reviews than a typical review app.

For the vast majority of merchants, the app will pay for itself and leave them with increased profit, not a cost.

The numbers (example)

Product sells for $100. The merchant normally discounts 10% ($90 sale price). Instead, they switch to a 10% Feedback Rebate ($100 sale price - $10 rebate). Same deal.

Let’s say they sell 10,000 units and only half of the rebates are redeemed.

  • 5,000 rebates paid: $50,000
  • Transaction fees (25%): $12,500
  • Your earnings at 20%: $2,500

Cost of the offer (relative to full price):

  • With discount: $100,000
  • With Feedback Rebate: $62,500

Merchant revenue:

  • With discount: $900,000
  • With Feedback Rebate: $937,500 (+ 5,000 reviews)

They save money, get reviews for free, and you get paid for suggesting the app.
That’s why it’s win-win-win.

Who should become an affiliate?

This is especially good for:

  • Employees who want to pitch this internally
  • Current users who know other Shopify merchants
  • Customers who have redeemed a Feedback Rebate before
  • Shopify consultants
  • Ecommerce agencies
  • Influencers in the “entrepreneurship / ecommerce” space
  • Freelancers and marketers
  • Anyone with business-owner friends or contacts

If you're an employee, besides the extra income, you get additional benefits because Virthium enables companies to credit employees on product pages (free feature).

  • You get your own personal profile linked to your products.
  • You get public recognition for your role.
  • You improve your professional rank with every review your product gets.

How referrals are tracked and paid

When you bring in a business:

  1. We assign your Referrer Code to their store.
  2. Every time a customer buys something and redeems a rebate...
  3. Your cut of the transaction fee is added to your account automatically.
  4. You can send the available balance to your PayPal right from your account.

No waiting. No guessing. Everything is automated and transparent.

What you don’t need to do

  • You don't need to “sell the software.”
  • You don’t need to manage the merchant.
  • You don’t need to onboard them.
  • You don’t need training, contracts, or calls.

Even a simple, "hey, you should check out this app" is enough.

What you can earn

There is no limit to how many businesses you refer.
There is no cap on usage.
Revenues scale automatically as merchants offer more rebates.

One merchant selling a single product can earn you a few thousand dollars (see the example above).
A bigger merchant with more products? Much more.

Why this isn’t a typical affiliate program

Traditional affiliate programs require you to sell something. This doesn’t. You're simply suggesting an interesting idea that requires no extra cost or commitment to try.

  • Businesses already offer discounts and rebates.
  • They already send post-purchase follow-ups asking for reviews.

This is just a way to do it more effectively and save money.

  • Merchants can try it risk-free on a few products first and compare the results.
  • They decide the rebate amounts, when to offer them, and for how long.
  • There are no subscriptions.
  • There are no "minimum usage" requirements.
  • There are no tiers. All features are unlimited and available at all times.
  • The app can be set up in minutes by the merchant (no technical skills required).

Merchants have full control over their rebates. They can use them as needed without any pressure or commitment.

Here is a typical example from one of our clients, who received 275 reviews in one month and saved $2,364 at the same time.

How to get started

  1. Create a Virthium account to get your Referrer Code:
    https://www.virthium.com/users/sign_up

  2. Suggest Feedback Rebates app to a merchant and give them your code.

  3. The merchant enters it during app installation.

  4. That’s it—you start earning when their customers start redeeming rebates.

FAQs

Where can I get my Referrer Code?

You can find it at the bottom of your dashboard after you sign up.

Where can I see my referrals after they install?

Log in to Virthium and check your Referral Listings tab.

If you don't see the tab, or the merchant is not on the list, but you believe they've already installed, let us know. It's possible they forgot to enter the code or haven't yet finished the installation.

What if the merchant installed without the Referrer Code or used a wrong one?

No problem. Email us at team+referral@virthium.com within one week after install and we will add it.

Please provide:

  • Your Referrer Code
  • The merchant’s store name and URL

How exactly is my commission calculated? Give me an example.

Your commission is always 20% of the app's transaction fee (not the rebate amount, and not the order total).

For example:

A customer buys two different products. Product A costs $50 and Product B costs $100, but only Product B has a 10% Feedback Rebate ($10).

  • The customer receives the rebate link only for Product B.
  • They click the link, leave a review (redeem), and automatically receive a $10 refund.
  • The app charges the merchant a $2.50 transaction fee (25% of the $10 rebate). This is your commission base.
  • Your cut is $0.50 (20% of $2.50).

If the customer doesn't redeem (leave a review) by the time the rebate expires, the merchant keeps the $10. No transaction fee is charged and no commission is paid.

You get paid only when a customer buys a product with a Feedback Rebate and redeems it.

How and when do I collect my referral earnings?

You can send the available referral balance to your PayPal account any time via the “Send via PayPal” button on your dashboard.

The app receives payouts from Shopify on a monthly basis, so your available balance is made up of rebates that were redeemed in the previous billing cycle (roughly one month ago).

In other words, if the rebate is redeemed today, you’ll be able to collect your commission in about one month.

When does the 1-year period start?

From the date the merchant installs the app in their store.

Can I refer myself?

No. The merchant already gets their own cashback incentive (a Feedback Rebate) after 60 days of use.

We also don't want merchants to feel like they were cheated out of a discount by their referrers.

If you are a Shopify merchant, you can refer other merchants and receive 20% commission from them, but not from your own store.

What about canceled or fully refunded orders?

The app won't charge the transaction fee in these situations.

You only get the commission when both the partial refund to the customer and the app fee charge to the merchant were successful.

What if I install the app on behalf of the merchant?

If you are not the store owner, enter your Referrer Code during install and email us at team+referral@virthium.com so that we can ensure you get your commission.

What does the merchant get from using my Referrer Code?

The merchant will receive half of their transaction fees back (up to $200) as a Feedback Rebate after the first 60 days of use.

All merchants get 10% (up to $40) back by default, but with your Referrer Code, they get 50% (up to $200).

Examples of what to say

I know someone who owns a Shopify store. What do I tell them?

Subject: Rebates-for-reviews idea

Hey [Name], how about this idea for your store?

There’s this app called Virthium Feedback Rebates that swaps a flat % OFF discount for a rebate people redeem by leaving a review after purchase. Customers still feel like they got a deal, but you only give the money back to the ones who actually review, and a bunch of people never bother, so your overall cost is lower and you end up with more reviews.

I’ve got a referral code you can use for up to $200 cash back on their transaction fees. I’ll get a small kickback if you use it, but it doesn’t change what you pay. It’s free to install and there’s no subscription, so you could try it on a few products and see how it goes.

I'm a consultant/agency. What do I tell my client?

Subject: Idea: more reviews, no extra budget

Hey [Client],

I came across an app that might be a no-brainer test for you. Instead of giving % OFF up front, you give a rebate that customers can redeem by leaving a review after purchase.

If you’re already doing discounts, you don’t need extra budget – you’re just restructuring the same % OFF offer. Because not everyone redeems a rebate, your total discount cost usually goes down, while your number of reviews goes way up.

Here’s a clear breakdown + example:

If you want, I can help you install it and test it on a few products.

I'm an employee. What should I tell my boss?

Subject: Quick idea to get more reviews without increasing costs

Hey [Name],

I found an app (Virthium Feedback Rebates) that basically lets us swap our existing % OFF discount for a rebate, so we keep charging full price but offer a partial refund if customers leave a review after purchase.

The math is simple: if we’re already doing, say, 10% OFF, we can convert that to a 10% Feedback Rebate. Because not everyone redeems their rebate, the total we give away is less than our current blanket discount, but we get a lot more verified reviews out of it.

There’s no subscription, it’s free to install, and we can test it on just a few products first. Here’s their explanation page:

If you’d like, I can help pick a couple of products and run a small test.
